Welsh Language Policy

1. Introduction

One Step Counselling and Therapies, C.I.C recognises the importance of the Welsh language as a vital part of the cultural identity of Wales. As an organisation committed to providing high-quality therapeutic services, we are dedicated to ensuring that these services are accessible to both Welsh and English speakers.

2. Purpose of the Policy

This policy aims to outline our commitment to promoting the use of the Welsh language within our services, ensuring equality of access and improving the overall experience of Welsh-speaking clients.

3. Commitment to Welsh Language


We will actively seek to employ Welsh-speaking staff and offer Welsh language training for our current staff when funding allows to enhance their language skills. Our recruitment strategy will prioritise bilingual capabilities. Public-facing documents, including brochures, leaflets, website content, and forms will be sought to be made available in both Welsh and English. We will ensure that any marketing and promotional materials reflect our bilingual commitment. We will be seeking funding to remedy these goals.


4. Engagement with the Welsh-speaking Community

1. Community Involvement: We will engage with the local Welsh-speaking community to assess their needs and ensure our services reflect their expectations and preferences.

2. Feedback Mechanism: We will create a feedback mechanism, allowing clients to express their experiences regarding the availability and quality of our Welsh language services.

5. Training and Development

1. Staff Training: We will provide Welsh language training and cultural awareness sessions for our staff to enhance their understanding of the Welsh language and promote a positive environment for Welsh-speaking clients, dependant on funding availability.

2. Ongoing Development: We will continuously assess and develop our Welsh language policy and practices to ensure they remain relevant and effective.

6. Monitoring and Evaluation

1. Review Process: This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and relevance, incorporating feedback from staff and clients alike.

2. Reporting: We will report on our progress in implementing this policy, providing transparency and accountability to our stakeholders and grant providers.
